YouTube has begun testing a new feature based on providing a summary of videos, by employing artificial intelligence technology, which will shorten users’ time, according to what was reported by “The Verge”, Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
According to the technical website specializing in technology, this feature is experimentally available on a limited number of videos on the platform, and is intended for a limited number of platform users.
While YouTube hopes the new feature will help viewers decide what content they want to watch , video feeds for a limited number of users currently only appear in English, on YouTube Watch and on search pages.
While it was announced that the purpose of this feature, which is supported by artificial intelligence, is to give the audience a glimpse of the content that awaits them, provided that it is not a substitute for describing the videos written by humans. These summaries help the audience quickly decide if the content is appropriate for them.
“We’re testing a new feature for viewers that uses artificial intelligence to create summaries of YouTube videos,” Google spokeswoman Jen Jamie told The Verge.
